According to the latest ranking published by L’Usine Nouvelle, ESILV is among France’s top 10 engineering schools in 2026. With campuses in Paris La Défense and Nantes, the school reaffirms its position as a generalist institution focused on digital technologies.
A key event each January, L’Usine Nouvelle‘s ranking of French engineering schools includes, in its 2026 edition, 121 schools accredited by the Commission des titres d’ingénieur (CTI), all of which deliver a recognised engineering degree. Although more than 200 schools are CTI-accredited, the magazine chose to rank only those with over 70 graduates per year group.

The 2026 rankings are based on four main criteria and 15 indicators: graduate employment, research, links with industry, and international outlook.
This ranking, published by a leading media outlet covering economic and industrial news, highlights schools providing training in strategic sectors such as the automotive, aerospace, energy and healthcare industries. Although ESILV reached the podium in 2023, it has confirmed its key role amongst the best engineering schools in France in 2026.
Furthermore, the international criterion has been thoroughly revised. Previously, it consisted of three indicators: the proportion of graduates from the most recent cohort employed abroad, the proportion of students who had spent at least six months abroad on a work placement, and the proportion of students who had spent at least one semester abroad on an academic exchange.
In 2025, the ranking took a new direction, shifting from a scoring system based on the min-max method to a 100-point scale.
The 2026 ranking retains this update, which helps to avoid fluctuations caused by extreme values. Furthermore, the structure of the ranking remains the same, with four main criteria (career prospects, industry links, research, and international focus), broken down into a total of 15 indicators, such as graduate salaries or the proportion of teaching hours delivered by academic staff.
For each indicator, if the data differs significantly from the previous year (whether higher or lower) or appears anomalous, the editorial team contacts the institution to verify the information provided.

No. 1 Engineering School in Computer Science
In 2026, ESILV ranked first in L’Usine Nouvelle’s category for French engineering schools specialising in “Computer Science, Electronics, and Telecommunications.”
This result confirms the school’s positioning as a post-baccalaureate generalist engineering school oriented towards digital innovation, emerging technologies, hybridisation, and innovation.
Students choose from 15 majors, spread across seven broad domains: finance, computer science, mechanical and robotics, energy, innovation, health, and agriculture and food. Some majors are available through apprenticeships, which cover the entire programme (two or three years, depending on the entry point).
The 2026 Ranking: A Decision-Making Tool
“There isn’t just one ranking in L’Usine Nouvelle; in fact, there are four thematic rankings where several institutions distinguish themselves,” explains L’Usine Nouvelle.
Designed as a dynamic comparison tool, the 2026 league table aims to support student and employer decision-making. Users can filter schools by region, specialism, and whether they admit students post-bac or after preparatory classes.
The ranking also allows users to compare up to three schools across six criteria: overall ranking, employability, international outreach, research, overall score, and industry connections.
