How Much Earns a Freshly Graduated Engineer in 2018?

The 2018 ESILV First Job Survey is made each year by the Corporate Relations Department of ESILV, a few months after the exit of the 2017 graduating class.

97% of the students answered the survey, that is 163 out of 167 respondents.

Salary and employment

The average annual gross salary of the 2017 promotion is € 43,800, including bonuses.

For the 20% of graduates having found their first job abroad, the remuneration is higher with an average of € 55,700 a year, including bonuses.

Three-quarters of young graduates work in Ile-de-France. 51% of them have an international function.

97% of the first positions were found in less than four months.

The net employment rate of the 2017 promotion is 90%. 68% of ESILV graduates obtained a position before the end of their studies.

Positions and sectors of activity

43% of the engineers in a position were hired following their end-of-studies internship or apprenticeship contract.

17% were able to count on their personal relationships or the alumni network.

Among the most represented sectors of activity: financial engineering (31%), IT (28%), automotive industry, aeronautics, etc. (13%) followed by new energies (7%) and construction (7%).

ESILV’s teaching project, made with and for companies contribute to explain the successful insertion of ESILV’s young graduates in the job market. Young graduates are present in companies of all sizes: 18% of them work in small and medium-size business of fewer than 50 employees, 48% in organizations of 50 to 249 employees, and 34% worked in multinational companies of more than 5 000 employees.

ESILV improves some very close links with companies in all business sectors: aeronautics, automobile, civil engineering, engineering, IT department, telecommunication, bank, insurance… Students are in contact with the company during their entire course through projects, work placements or conferences presented by professionals.
