Industrial Design & Engineering Dual Degree



Accessible to holders of a Bachelor’s Degree, the Industrial Design & Engineering dual degree is a three-year course, taught in English, which prepares students to become versatile professionals capable of facing the complex challenges posed by technological advances, ecological issues and industrial transformation.




Combining design and engineering for responsible innovation

This Dual Degree offered by ESILV and Strate École de Design is intended for students with an undergraduate degree and foundations in engineering or design, such as holders of a Bachelor of Science and Engineering (BSI) or a Bachelor of Technology (BUT).

It aims to train a new generation of designer-innovators, with multidisciplinary skills at the crossroads of engineering and design, capable of approaching innovation with a systemic vision that integrates ecological, economic and social perspectives.

The programme combines theoretical and practical approaches to develop a technical and methodological culture, an awareness of eco-design and sustainable innovation, as well as project management and entrepreneurial skills. Students benefit from the joint expertise of ESILV and Strate, two renowned institutions in their respective fields.

    Programme

    The Industrial Design & Engineering dual degree programme is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of design processes and engineering principles, while integrating contemporary ecological and societal issues.

    This three-year curriculum develops skills in engineering sciences, design, human and social sciences, and entrepreneurship, preparing future innovative creators to meet the complex challenges of our time.

    Year 1

    The first year focuses on acquiring the fundamentals of design and engineering, with an introduction to human and social sciences. Students develop a technical and methodological culture, while learning about eco-design and sustainable innovation.

    Skills developed in the Industrial Design & Engineering double degree

    The double degree aims to train creative, versatile and competent professionals, capable of designing innovative solutions in a variety of contexts. Students acquire technical, methodological and strategic skills, enabling them to excel in industrial design and engineering projects.

    Technical and creative skills

    • Specialized digital tools: Use computer-aided design (CAD) software, 3D modeling and rapid prototyping tools, and digital manufacturing technologies (3D printing, laser cutting, etc.).
    • Prototyping creative solutions: Transform conceptual ideas into functional prototypes, integrating aesthetic, technical and ergonomic choices.
    • Innovative product design: Develop products taking into account industrial constraints (feasibility, durability, environmental impact) while meeting user needs.

    Project management and leadership

    • Managing complex projects: Manage the entire life cycle of an industrial design project, from the initial idea to the final rendering phase, ensuring compliance with deadlines, budgets and objectives.
    • Multidisciplinary coordination: Collaborate with experts from various fields (engineering, design, marketing) to develop integrated solutions.
    • Launching and managing innovative projects: Structure and implement projects addressing technical, economic or ecological issues, while adopting a global vision.


    Communication and knowledge transfer

    • Presentation and popularization of concepts: Clearly explain technical ideas and design solutions to a variety of audiences (customers, partners, teams) using appropriate visual and interactive aids.
    • Transfer of specialized knowledge: Accompany teams in a professional context to share technical or methodological knowledge, and encourage skills development.
    • Intercultural communication: Adapting the transmission of ideas and collaboration in international and multicultural environments.

    At the end of the training program, you will obtain :

    • Diplôme de Designer Industriel from Strate Ecole de Design, level 7 registered on the RNCP under number 38670 by decision of the Director General of France Compétences on February 16, 2023.
    • MSc Creative Technology from the École Supérieure d’Ingénieurs Léonard de Vinci, awarded the MSc CGE label by the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles.
