If you’re considering an engineering Master’s degree in French Grande Ecole, you must carefully weigh your options. It is no secret that every young engineer aspires to land high-paying jobs, but not all engineering degrees are worth the same. Here’s how much you can make with a Masters in Engineering from ESILV.
Of the 635 graduates of the class of 2022, 577 responded to the employment survey on their professional integration, i.e. almost 91% of respondents to the first employment survey 2023. 90% of graduate engineers responding said they were satisfied with their first job.

20% of new hires were abroad, with an average annual salary of 76,200 euros (including bonuses). 41% of all graduates have an international function.
These figures show how important it is for engineers to have a good command of languages, mainly English, for their first job.
The advantages of working in France
When comparing new graduate salaries internationally, it’s important to consider that salary levels can vary widely depending on the industry, job role, and location. Additionally, exchange rates and cost of living differences play a significant role in the actual purchasing power of a salary.
In France, salaries are often compensated by the social welfare benefits provided by the country’s robust social security system. While wages might appear lower compared to other nations, the social welfare system helps ensure a certain level of financial security and well-being for residents. Here are ways social welfare benefits can compensate for a lower salary:
- Healthcare Coverage: France has a comprehensive healthcare system that covers a significant portion of medical expenses. Employees and their dependents can access quality healthcare services without exorbitant costs.
- Paid Leave: French labor laws mandate minimum paid vacation days and public holidays, contributing to a healthier work-life balance. This can be seen as a form of non-monetary compensation.
- Unemployment Benefits: In case of job loss, employees may be eligible for unemployment benefits, providing financial support during unemployment. This safety net contributes to economic stability for individuals and families.
- Family Allowances: France offers various family allowances, including financial support for families with children. This can help offset the costs associated with raising a family.
Responsibilities and positions held after engineering school
97% of respondents from the class of engineers graduating in 2021 have managerial status from the moment they start work.
58% are responsible for a project, and 16% are for a team.
These indicators again demonstrate the high employability potential of these young engineering graduates, who are qualified and able to respond immediately to the needs of companies.
22% of respondents hold a position in financial engineering, and 43% in Big Data computing. 5% hold positions in consulting and design offices, 6% in energy and 7% in the transport industry.
